The Bury Rentals 1526 & 1547
Pre-dating Parish Register, & specially translated from the original latin for SFHS, this booklet in A5 format, comprising 76 pages, 4 maps, 2 illustrations of the original text and 4 separate indexes listing over 2000 names and contains two rentals namely - Parcels in possession of the late Monastry of Bury St Edmunds and now the Borough of Bury St Edmunds (1547); and a rental of assized rents for the town of Bury St Edmunds belonging to the office of Sacrist of the monastry of St Edmund (1526/27). The contents will doubtless be of interest to anyone searching for 16th C. ancestors in the Bury St Edmunds area, house historians and those studying the history of the Abbey.
